Intergenerational projects

As, a community and as a country, we need to acknowledge an often-untapped resource- our Elderly who have a wealth of knowledge, skills and experiences which could be used to mould our younger generations. Unfortunately, the contributions of the elderly are often overlooked, and they are sometimes neglected and made to feel unwanted. We want the contributions, skills, and talents of the elderly to be acknowledged and appreciated and to achieve this we are implementing, the “Tell us your story” Older Persons Empowerment Project. This project entails Senior citizens using the medium of photographs, documents, and other records to tell their stories using a scrapbook kit and with assistance from Social Workers and Volunteers. Through this project, we hope to change perceptions of ageing, and promote the concept that late adulthood is yet another phase in human development and another chapter of life. Although, it comes with change- physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally, like everything else in life, there are positive and negative aspects, and the challenge is to embrace and extend the positive aspects of ageing which we are hoping to achieve through this project.

Skills Development and Training

The focus area is to empower the aged with skills to promote self-reliance and learning. Our programmes are designed to capacitate senior citizens with skills and training to manage the facilities.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The organization is solely dependent on CSI Partnership and for Public Funding. CSI partnerships and Public funding form a crucial role in assisting the organisation to meet its operational requirements in order to provide professional social work services to the community at no cost.

Service Centre’s and Clubs

The senior citizens clubs and service (day care facilities) provide peer support, stimulation, empowerment, and recreational activities for senior citizens. They are managed by dedicated volunteers who are elected by the members of these clubs and centre’s on an annual basis and are responsible for the day to day running of the clubs/centre’s. Social Workers monitor the functioning of these clubs and centre’s, and render training, development, and supportive services.
